A Little History

Abilities was founded in 1998 with a primary goal of supporting individuals who have challenging behaviours. Our efforts have always been to follow the principles of community inclusion for all members of society. In the early days we operated a small day program that has expanded year over year, we currently serve 20 individuals. As our day program expanded we were also asked to utilize our day program resources to provide residential support to individuals who needed a home. To date, we provide residential support for 8 people. In 2018 we decided to create our version of supported employment we call this program ShopAbilities.

All of our services are guided by a person centred planning process that listens to the hopes, fears, needs and desires of those that we support. Abilities provides support in full cooperation with other community partners who focus on health, behavioural and recreational support. Access to our services are directed and  funded by Community Living British Columbia.
